Here at SK, we have a pretty strong preference for whiskey. It seems to go well with everything, and that notion holds true when it comes to the whiskey smash. The version where the lemon wedges was introduced could be dated back to the Rainbow Room in New York where Dale DeGroff altered the cocktail and gave it a perfect balance of mint & citrus.
What you’ll need:
- 2 oz Bourbon
- ¾ simple syrup
- 4 mint leaves
- 3 lemon wedges
How to make it:
Now it’s time to make the Whiskey Smash. We highly encourage a cocktail shaker but a blender will also suffice (make sure to not include the ice in the blender, however, because it will dilute your drink. These directions will assume you already are a badass at-home cocktail maker and have gone out to get the shaker.
- Before you add any ice. muddle the lemon into your shaker.
- Next add your whiskey, mint leaves and syrup. Finally fill the shaker with ice and shake.
- Strain your drink into your rocks glass, make sure that you’re leaving the ice in the mixing glass behind and that you’re pouring the new drink on fresh ice. Usually one large ice cube will suffice.
- You may then garnish your glass with mint.
Woah! You have just made a beautiful cocktail (we won’t judge if you put it on the gram). For quality cocktail ingredients and at home delivery, visit ShopSK.
