Located in northwestern Pomerol, just 35 kilometers east of Bordeaux, the 47.5 vineyard hectares of chateau de sales pomerol make up the largest estate in the Pomerol appellation and have been owned by the same family for more than 500 years. The average vine age here is more than 30 years old, planted to 70% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon in fine gravel and sand soils, some clay, and lots of iron oxide.
An attractive, deep ruby red, the wine has a highly complex nose which opens up with airing on notes of black berry fruit such as bilberry and blackberry. Fresh and well-balanced on the palate, chateau de sales pomerol is full-bodied and displays attractively complex flavors, especially black fruit, with a touch of oak. A wine with good ageing potential, its well-integrated and silky tannins give it a remarkable finish.
