The Lafaurie-Peyraguey is one of the wines of the year in Sauternes. Creamy and beautifully resonant in the glass, it offers up a compelling mélange of pineapple, mint, ginger, orange confit, chamomile, passionfruit and floral-infused honey. The 2021 is exotic and wonderfully deep, yet not at all heavy. It's too bad Sauternes is such an out of favor category, as great wines like this don't get much attention. That's a shame, because Lafaurie-Peyraguey is truly magnificent. Tasted two times.

The Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey is terrific, if not the finest vintage I've tasted from this château. Coming from 93% Semillon, 6% Sauvignon, and 1% Muscadelle, representing a selection of 65% of the production, it offers a beautiful perfume of ripe peach, honeyed citrus, marmalade and flower oil. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it has plenty of opulence and sweetness yet stays pure, focused, and vibrant, with a great finish. It's a gorgeous Sauternes in the making.
