At the tail end of 2018, the GlenAllachie distillery launched its first bundle of single cask releases! This one is the oldest of the bunch, distilled in June 1989 and aged in a single sherry but for 29 years! It was bottled at cask strength in October 2018 with an outturn of 525 bottles. After a busy first year since Billy Walker took over at the distillery, Glenallachie have released their first batch of UK-exclusive single casks, with this as one of the two oldest bottlings. It's a 1989-vintage sherry-butt-matured whisky, bottled at 29 years old and a impressive 56.9% ABV cask strength. The cask has add rich fruit and spice, but hasn't swamped the spirit, allowing citrus and banana notes to push through a sea of chocolate and toffee.
