James aplayed a part in the “Catalpa Rescue” — a failed escape, on 17–19 April 1876, of six Irish Fenian prisoners from the then British penal colony of Western Australia — which obviously didn’t go to plan. He was convicted, sent to Western Australia “for life” imprisonment, however he was granted a pardon by the King in 1905.
Medium bodied with soft, round tannins, cherry and strawberry fruit sweetness which complements the vanilla and spice oak undertones. All these elements combined create a well-balanced, enjoyable wine with a long finish.
