This dark and spicy red was born in 1994 for the desire to produce a wine from Syrah grapes only, one of the most popular in Le Macchiole. Rare and original, produced in very few bottles. The name, borrowed from a Tuscan term meaning “pure, straightforward, whole”, impeccably identifies the salient features.
Grapes: Syrah 100%
Vinification: fermentation and maceration in steel for 20 days
Aging: 13 months in new tonneaux and 12 HL truncated cone vats
Tasting notes: Intense and deep ruby red, the nose if Le Macchiole Scrio Toscana 2013 is fruity and spicy, with notes of blackberries and wild berries in jam, chocolate, spices and balsamic herbs, round on the palate, with a marked acidity that compensates for the sweetness of the tannins. The finish is accompanied by notes of mint and eucalyptus.
Pairings: Le Macchiole Scrio Toscana 2013 best served with Grilled and stewed red meats, aged cheeses
